A good concierge will facilitate all aspects of a guest’s visit
to the venue. The concierge will be able to provide directions, maps,
and schedules, suggest cultural, entertainment,
sports and retail destinations, arrange the services of hairstylists,
personal shoppers, secretarial agencies, baby sitters, dog walkers,
and procure reservations to shows and restaurants
(the concierge’s influential contact list often means that they
will be able to provide better tickets for box office hits and magically
find a table in a restaurant
that might otherwise be fully-booked when a stranger calls).
Although typically found at a hotel,
it is certainly possible to create a concierge desk at any site in order
to look after the attendees’ wellbeing. If the event is being
held at a hotel
or is largely booked with event
guests, it is often possible to negotiate a dedicated concierge
to facilitate the attendees’ total experience of the event. Use
the Clef D’Or association’s website to find a list of local
concierges who may be willing to act as an event’s concierge at
a non-hotel site. An experienced hotel
concierge is quite different from the personal concierge services that
have sprung up over the last decade. The hotel
concierge will know how to best handle the needs of large groups, including
transportation
and block bookings for shows, sporting
events,
etc.
