Booking the Entertainment
|
Once the type of entertainment
best suited to the event has been decided on by the planner(s), it is
necessary to do some research to discover the entertainers who will
be the best fit. Their booking agencies should be contacted and references
and referrals requested. Care should be taken to check that the entertainer
selected is reliable, adheres to the contract guidelines, and does not
have contract riders that are too difficult to meet. Some of the factors
to consider are:
• Does the performer have a reputation for being late, or having
a drinking or substance abuse problem?
• Is the entertainment
provider already in the local area, or are flight-times and passports
an issue?
• Does the equipment
travel with the
performers, or is separate shipping a possible cause for delay or a
no show?
