Commercial and Municipal Lots
|
If a location lacks attached parking, but there are convenient commercial
and municipal
lots, it may well be possible to reserve the use of part or all of the
lot for the event. It may also be necessary to pay for earlier opening
hours and later closing hours, along with extra security. If the event
organizer is paying for extra security, it is probably a better
idea to hire from a specialist security firm, preferably with dog or
cycling teams, rather than hiring extra parking lot attendants. Check
that earlier or later openings do not require any special municipal
permits.
Some municipal
lots are metered. Reserve the lot, hire attendants to take guest parking
vouchers (instruct them to courteously turn away non-event guests—perhaps
they can even have maps
with alternate parking locations to hand out), and make sure that there
are plenty of signs reminding people not to feed the meters.
