Empty warehouses
offer less conventional venues, usually in industrial areas of the city,
with large amounts of open space that can be transformed into exciting
sets for medium to large events. They are good for events designed to
appeal to an edgier or younger crowd. Rental of the location is often
very reasonable, but additional costs—along with tables, chairs,
glassware, etc.--may include generators (if power supply is insufficient
for audio/visual
needs), and portable washroom rental.
Décor for such massive, unfinished space can be an issue. Consider
renting props from a film or theater agency. In any event, extra lighting
is usually required and the set up can be time and person hours consuming.
These are factors to be included in the budget.
