Community Center/Library/Park

Civic spaces provide inexpensive meeting room rentals for individual
meetings and small conferences.
They typically have a sliding scale fee based on the type of organization
renting the facilities. Tables and chairs may be included in the cost,
or may need to be rented. Usually, a basic kitchen is available for
storage and heating of food. In most cases (with a few notable exceptions)
the rooms and furnishing tend toward the utilitarian.
At least some staffing must come through the civic union, with the
attendant cost and timing issues (although this may sometimes be included
in the room rental fee). They often have larger spaces suitable for
weddings, dances, fashion
shows, charity events,
etc., but these spaces are quite basic and will require some planning
to decorate. For seminars and presentations, most cities have a library
that contains a small theater that already has cd/dvd/software projection
capacity, as well as the more traditional video
and celluloid formats.
