The usual castle-like exterior and large, open interior of armories make
them ideal locations for galas, fashion shows,
weddings,
product launchings, et cetera. Rents are reasonable, although anything
to do with décor, food and beverage, seating, tabling, etc., will
need to be brought in. As most armories were built before the car was
part of everyday life, check that there is adequate parking. Another factor
is the gender balance of the washrooms; there are usually far more male
facilities than female.
Savvy event coordinators often bring temporary
signage
to switch the washroom designations for the evening (it may be necessary
to assign a clean-up team pre-event, and the addition of a few
flower
bouquets and baskets containing lotions and hairspray will feminize
the space).
