The objectives of not-for-profit events are to raise funds and/or
awareness for a specific cause. Many corporations are developing relationships
with charities to contribute to social causes that are important to
their people and their clients. If the goal of an event is to raise
funds, partnering with the right corporation can yield social benefits
to both organizations. Corporations, in addition to sponsoring and
donating, also provide valuable skill-sets to their partner charity
by creating frameworks for employee volunteering. The objectives of
a charitable event can include:
- Raising money or goods for direct services, advocacy, or research
- Building up the charity’s donor and volunteer base
- Attracting positive media and public attention to the charity
and their corporate partner
- Establish partnership or relationships with other corporations
that are related and support the same cause
Corporate objectives for a charity
fundraiser could include fundraising, positive media coverage and,
(more difficult to measure, but with internal benefits) employee satisfaction.
North America’s largest credit union and coffee
company are both consistently rated as excellent places to work,
in part because the companies’ personnel feels that their social
ethics are valued when volunteer time is created and donations are
made to charities
that staff are involved with.
